    for a Competitive Future"

The Bristol Workforce Investment Board is one of 16 Workforce Boards throughout Massachusetts, and is charged with overseeing and implementing workforce development initiatives in the Greater Fall River, Attleboro and Taunton areas.

The goal of the Workforce Investment Board is to develop a truly universal, world class system serving the current and future workforce and all workforce entities.

"Striving to increase the occupational skill attainment, employment, retention and earning of participants, and as a result improve the quality of the workforce, reduce dependency on public assistance, and enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the region."

In September 2006, the Bristol WIB took a leadership role in convening a group of school and community partners that came to be known as the Fall River Schools Workforce Partners. This group developed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop new opportunities for educational attainment, skill development, and employment. One of the projects the partners created was Durfee Academy, an alternative work and learning program currently serving 90 youth identified as at risk of dropping out. To review the MOU, Click Here.
