    The Bristol Workforce Investment Board offers a wide range of services to employers and job seekers throughout our region. Many of these services can be found at our Career Centers of Bristol County. See the Career Centers Page for a more detailed description. Additionally, the Bristol WIB has taken an active role in marketing the Workforce Training Fund which provides grants for the training of workers in new skills and technology. The WIB also provides interested employers with information on local availability of other training grants, skill development opportunities and referral to state funding resources.

    What We Do

    • Voice of the private sector and workforce professionals-what skills are needed for employers to succeed

    • Provide strategic direction for the workforce investment system

    • Advocate with the Chief Elected Official for support of an integrated workforce investment system

    • Develop the five year local workforce investment plan and conduct oversight of the one stop system

    • Select eligible youth service providers of adult and dislocated worker intensive services and training services

    • Coordinate workforce investment activities with economic development strategies and develop employer linkages

    • Provide private sector involvement in the statewide workforce investment system through effectiev connecting, brokering and coaching activities

    • Appoint a youth council in cooperation with the Chief Elected Official

    • Oversee various workforce related grants for the region including WIA Title I, School to Career, DOE-Adult Basic Education, Workforce Training Fund and Americorps
